There is nothing more satisfying than unlocking achievements in Minecraft after countless hours of play. However, occasionally those achievements aren’t unlocked right away, leading you to believe they haven’t been completed.

Fear not though, as the issue is somewhat common, and happens to plenty of players. There are a handful of reasons why they might not be unlocking, so check through the following list to see if your situation meets any of the criteria.

1. The Server Has Not Received the Data Yet

Minecraft needs time to process and organize changes in the system, which can take as long as 24 hours. If you’ve completed the required tasks for an achievement but Minecraft still hasn’t released it yet, then wait 24 hours for the system to process the changes.

2. Your Game Is Not Up to Date

Updates to Minecraft often edit or change achievements, giving players a more or less fair chance at a challenge. However, if you have completed a challenge or advancement and still have not unlocked an achievement, then check to see if Minecraft is running on the most recent software patch.

3. You Are Not Connected to the Internet

If your device isn’t actively connected to the internet, then it won’t be able to process any achievements. Although you can play Minecraft offline all you want, those achievements will not be released until you connect to the internet once again.

4. Your Files Have Not Saved Properly

Check to make sure that all of your files have been properly saved before rushing to any conclusions. Any files not properly saved could potentially lose progress data, forcing you to restart the achievement process once again.

If you still can’t unlock achievements after following any of the guidelines above, then your final options are to test your hardware. To do this, simply follow the brief steps below:

1. Turn off Minecraft and your device, and restart both entirely.
2. Check to make sure your device is connected to the internet.
3. Use a storage device to backup your saved data, and uninstall Minecraft from your device. Reinstall the program, and follow the prompts while loading your saved data.
